So Proud!

I'm so unbelievably proud of Baxter today!

A couple days ago he came home with the news he won 2nd place at the preliminary Geography Bee.  (That's right, I said GEOGRAPHY!)  They took 3 4th graders, 3 5th graders, and 4 6th graders (due to a tie--2 for 1st and 2 for second) for a school final Geography Bee that took place today after school.

To my amazement, Baxter won FIRST PLACE!!  (I'm amazed because I've never been good at geography.)  He won a metal and a new Atlas--which he's been looking at all afternoon.  On Tuesday he'll take a 70 question test with an hour time-limit to see if he gets to represent Foxboro Elementary in the State Geography Bee.

Good Luck, Baxter.  Remember I love you!!

Baxter's Championship question--the answer was Egypt, which happens to be the country he's doing a report on this year!

2nd place, 3rd place, and 1st place winners!

Baby Update

January 4th we found out our baby is ANOTHER BOY.  I took this news MUCH better than I did with Syler.  It helped that Spencer and I talked the night before and both of us thought another boy was joining us.

Noel went with me to the ultrasound.  The lady didn't even give us warning.  "This is the first boy we've had all day!"  (This was said before we even realized we were looking at a baby, let alone his gender.)  She seemed very excited.  Noel was shocked, and I was, well, lets just say not surprised.  It was nice that the lady kept reinforcing the gender and how all the previous day's women were having girls.  (Sarcasm intended.)

Well, I've decided I'm not in a hurry to name this baby.  All our other children had their names practically before conception--except Baxter, which I won the fight over after we found out he was indeed a boy.  Syler's name was chosen 7 years before birth.  That's just the kinda girl I am--usually.  However, I didn't exactly plan on more than 3 boys so we ran out of names.

It's actually Spencer's turn to pick, but I reserve the right to veto.  So far we have a long list of -er names, but no decisions have been made.  I'm tempted to wait until the birth.  How unlike me!

My other boys are excited just to have a new baby in the house.  Of course, Syler doesn't entirely understand.  I guess he will soon enough!  I've taken the opportunity to post a baby countdown on my blog so we can share the countdown with anyone reading this blog.

128 days to go!!

Christmas Came and Went

What a great Christmas we had this year!  I love it when my toughest critic (Zander) says it was the best Christmas ever.  ;)  [No pressure on next year of course.]

On Christmas Eve we decorated cookies for Santa, enjoyed Christmas Eve dinner at Granny Goon's (and stayed way too late) where Syler got to sit on Santa's lap and made sure to ask after the reindeer.  When we finally got home, we watched our annual Christmas Eve on Sesame Street, read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, then went to bed so Santa could come!

On Christmas morning we slept in until 8:30am (Dad's favorite part), opened presents (Syler put his away as he opened them--Mom's favorite part), then went to breakfast made by Grandpa Hugo.  After all that excitement we visited Grandpa Goble and went home for a long winter's nap!  :)

I hope next year is equally exciting, with a little less exhaustion--of course we'll have a new member in the family so who knows.  Here's hoping!

Halloween Extravaganza!

We had such a great time for Halloween this year.  I'm a little late, but I finally got all my pictures!  Can anyone tell what my apron says????

It's About Time!

Wow! I have totally slacked off in the blog department.  I think that is mostly due to having so much to say and no time to say it.  Well, I'm afraid I'll again have to sum it up.

AUGUST:  Vacation!!!  We went to Oregon (finally) for a freaking fantastic time.  We saw a whale outside our room every day but one--the day we were gone all day.  We also saw the world's largest sea lion cave, 2 light houses, and watched a man glass blowing.  The beach was cold and the water was FREEZING!  We loved every minute--except maybe the long drive and the boat.

Whale from our room!

View from our room!

More AUGUST:  I slipped away for a girl's weekend to St. George!  Then I ended the month with a fabulous birthday--in which I got that camera I hinted for.  :)

SEPTEMBER:  School started!  September ended.  (That was fast!)

OCTOBER:  Halfway over and I don't know where it even started.  We did manage to squeeze in some family photo time.  I posted my favorites on the left side of this blog.  I hope we get some great Halloween photos to include soon!
